greed

Greed is a good thing. I know what you're thinking, 'what the hell? how is greed possibly a good thing?' Well, it is. John Rockefeller was one of the greediest men in the history of the planet. He grew his business, Standard Oil, until it was thought it couldn't grow any more, then he went and grew it some more. He drove other companies into the ground, building a dreaded monopoly. He became the worlds richest man and was the first American worth more than a billion dollars. Yes, he was greedy, so that must make him a terrible person right? No, wrong. What do you think he did after he amassed this huge fortune? He spent it of course, but what's wrong with that? Now, he could have gone and enjoyed the good life, spending his money on lavish palaces, private islands, and fancy women, but he didn't. Rockefeller spent over 500 million of his fortune for the betterment of society, donating generously to universities and places of higher learning. Now, does greed sound like such a bad thing any more? If Rockefeller hadn't been greedy, he wouldn't have been able to do the great things he did.
